Valentina Shevchenko vs. Sijara Eubanks for Vacant Flyweight Title Headlines UFC 230
A new women’s flyweight champion will be crowned as Valentina Shevchenko faces Sijara Eubanks in the main event at UFC 230 on Nov. 3 in New York.
UFC president Dana White confirmed the fight on Tuesday when speaking to ESPN.
The title fight came together on very short notice with the event only four weeks away.
Shevchenko was originally scheduled to compete in December against Joanna Jedrzejczyk but the former strawweight champion couldn’t be ready in time to fight as early as Nov. 3.
That means Eubanks, who is currently 1-0 in the UFC will get the opportunity to fight for the title instead at UFC 230.
Eubanks was originally expected to fight for the inaugural women’s flyweight title last December but she ended up dealing with a brutal weight cut that forced her out of the matchup against Nicco Montano.
Now Eubanks will get a second chance as she faces Shevchenko in the main event at UFC 230 with the women’s flyweight title up for grabs.
