Tyron Woodley Responds To Santiago Ponzinibbio’s Call Out

UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has responded to Santiago Ponzinibbio's call out following UFC Argentina

Santiago Ponzinibbio made a statement at UFC Argentina last evening, but UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, apparently wasn’t all that impressed.

The Argentinian knocked out Neil Magny in the fourth round of their main event last evening and he did so in emphatic fashion. Ponzinibbio attacked the legs of Magny from the outset and had the American hobbling around the cage come the championship rounds. Ponzinibbio finished the fight when he pushed Magny’s back into the cage and then landed a flush right hand to send him face first to the mat.

Finishing the fight in front of his home crowd was a huge moment for Ponzinibbio and it added to a win streak that now stands at seven fights. With the top-5 now with in touching distance, Ponzinibbio  didn’t shy away from talking about the current champion Woodley and according to him at least, Woddley has no desire to fight him whatsoever.

“He wants to hold on to his title as long as possible,” Ponzinibbio said. “He knows that if he does fight me, I’m going to knock him out, I’m going to take it.

“He wants to keep extending his reign for as long as he can and that’s why he keeps saying that I still have a long way to go.”

Woodley didn’t hesitate to respond and he somewhat dismissed Ponzinibbio’s title credentials.

“Take a number, bruh,” Woodley said. “Everyone wants a crack at the king. Just keep fighting, keep winning and you’re going to get a chance to get across the Octagon and see what everybody else thought they wanted, and that’s catching the fade.”

Rumour has it Colby Covington will get the next shot at Woodley, but Ponzinibbio won’t be too far away from the title picture should he keep racking up the wins.
