Rose Namajunas vs. Jessica Andrade for Strawweight Title Set for UFC 237 in May

Strawweight champion Rose Namajunas will make her return to action for the first time in over a year when she faces Jessica Andrade at UFC 237 on May 11 in Brazil.

Strawweight champion Rose Namajunas will make her return to action for the first time in over a year when she faces Jessica Andrade at UFC 237 on May 11 in Brazil.

UFC president Dana White announced the fight via ESPN on Monday.

Namajunas has been sidelined since earning a decision win over former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in her first title defense at UFC 223 this past April.

Following that win, Namajunas was dealing with a neck injury that kept her out of the cage for the remainder of 2018.

Now she will return while facing one of the true terrors of the strawweight division.

Andrade has gone 6-1 since moving to 115 pounds with her lone setback coming in a title shot against Jedrzejczyk in 2017.

Outside of that one loss, Andrade has been a human wrecking ball in the strawweight division including recent wins over Claudia Gadelha and Karolina Kowalkiewicz to secure the next shot at the title.

Namajunas vs. Andrade is the first confirmed fight for the UFC card in Brazil on May 11 with more bouts expected to be added in the coming weeks.
