Renato Moicano vs. Mirsad Bektic In the Works for UFC 231 in Toronto
Top 10 ranked featherweights Renato Moicano and Mirsad Bektic are expected to clash at UFC 231 in Toronto on Dec. 8.
Sources close to the matchup confirmed the news on Monday with verbal agreements in place from the fighters. Combate initially reported the fight.
The UFC hasn’t officially announced the fight, but it’s expected that Moicano vs. Bektic will serve as the backup to the main event between featherweight champion Max Holloway and No. 1 contender Brian Ortega.
Should anything happen to either of the fighters in the main event, Moicano or Bektic would then likely move into that slot.
The bout between Moicano and Bektic could have title implications regardless of the main event as both fighters have put together impressive resumes inside the Octagon.
With a combined 11-2 record in the UFC, Moicano and Bektic are knocking on the door for that top contender spot and the winner of this fight could be in prime position to challenge for the belt in 2019.
