Bold claims surface about Mike Tyson: ‘He’s juiced up…steroids’
According to a top-lever Russian combat sports athlete, Mike Tyson has taken to using steroids for his boxing comeback.
It can be tough to see sports legends to fall, especially in combat sports, where the consequences can be brutal and long-lasting. Boxing legend Mike Tyson announced his comeback to the sport several weeks ago, which has now caused claims of the use of steroids.
MMA heavyweight Sergei Kharitonov, veteran of Pride and Strikeforce amongst other promotions, recently spoke out on the subject. Tyson says that he plans on competing in exhibition bouts for charity. So far he has shown off impressive physique and punching power. Kharitonov claims that the only way that 53 year-old Tyson could be in the form that he is in, is through unnatural means.
“He’s juiced up, but it’s fine. There won’t be any doping-control,” the 39-year-old Kharintonov told Sport Express reported, translated via RT Sport.
“He’s taken testosterone, and some kind of health products. There’s no resentment towards Tyson here for that. He’s 53 years old. How else could he have got into more or less top shape? Only on steroids, there’s no other option.”

Kharitonov’s claims certainly do come from a place of knowledge. He has admitted to taking steroids himself throughout his many years in both the army and in combat sports.
“Have I ever taken supplements? In the army yes. When everybody tried all different tablets. In my third or fourth year, when everybody weight trained, my friends brought nandrolone. I injected myself, to look good, to have a good body. I remember my muscles were like rocks.
“I looked in the mirror and realised it wasn’t for me. I stopped dabbling in that and don’t intend to. First, it’s bad for you. Secondly it’s illegal [in sport].”
Tyson has not commented on Kharitonov’s claims.
So far no opponent has been officially announced for Tyson’s return. Former heavyweight champ Shannon Briggs has announced that he has signed on to fight Tyson – Though not all parties have confirmed this. UFC president Dana White has pleaded for Tyson not to return, but seemingly to no avail.
