Magomedsharipov was originally expected to face Yair Rodriguez on the card but he suffered an injury that forced him out of the fight.
Now Davis steps into replace him on less than two weeks notice while looking to pull off the upset against Magomedsharipov, who has gone 3-0 since joining the UFC roster.
Meanwhile, Davis is currently 1-2 in his UFC campaign with his lone win coming against Steven Peterson.
UFC 228 will be headlined by a pair of title fights as welterweight champion Tyron Woodley takes on Darren Till while women’s flyweight champion Nicco Montano puts her title up for grabs against top contender Valentina Shevchenko.
