Former WWE Superstar Jack Swagger Signs with Bellator MMA

Another former WWE star is taking a shot at mixed martial arts

Former WWE superstar Jack Swagger — real named Jake Hager — is making his move into mixed martial arts after signing with Bellator MMA.

Hager had teased a possible moved into professional fighting earlier this year and now he’s signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion where he will compete as a heavyweight. Bellator MMA confirmed the news after Hager made the announcement via MMAFighting on Monday.

Unlike fellow former WWE star CM Punk, Hager actually has real credentials to bring with him when he steps into the Bellator cage for the first time.

Before he was a full time performer for WWE, Hager was an All-American wrestler at the University of Oklahoma, which boasts one of the most impressive programs in the history of the sport.

In his senior year, Hager finished seventh overall in the heavyweight division, which earned him All-American honors after he first went to Oklahoma as a two-sport athlete while also playing football for the school as well.

At 35 years of age, Hager is getting a late start on his MMA career but he certainly has the athletic pedigree to give him a leg up on the competition. Hager has already been training and hopes to make his debut in 2018.
