If we see a more incredible fight than Aung La Nsang vs Ken Hasegawa next week at UFC International Fight Week, we will have done very well.
This evening Myanmar, Nsang and Hasegawa went toe-to-toe in what can only be described as one of the greatest ONE Championship title fights of all time.
Nsang had been making quick work of his opponents in his last two fights have won via first round TKO, but this evening he was pushed to his limits by a very game Hasegawa.
Backed by thousands of fans packed into the Thuwuna Indoor Stadium, Nsang started out the contest at a fast pace as he looked to land his straight right hand and head kicks.
Hasegawa dealt with the pressure well though and in round two he himself was doing the better work and getting the better of the boxing exchanges as he used his footwork to get in and out of range.
Nsang throughout the contest was targeting the mid-section of the Japanese fighter and in the championship rounds Hasegawa started to look increasingly fatigued.
Nsang himself was looking laboured, but Hasegawa at points could barely stand and Nsang looked the fresher of the two as he began to pick away at him in the fifth round.
Just when it looked like the fight was going to go the distance, Nsang landed a devastating combination that ended with a short uppercut to send Hasegawa face first into the mat.
It was an incredible finish to the fight and Aung La Nsang remains the ONE Championship middleweight champion.
