[Video] Islam Makhachev Calls Out Kevin Lee… With A Little Help From Khabib Nurmagomedov
Khabib Nurmagomedov was busy with a UFC 223 press conference last Friday, on the Saturday night he both cornered and translated for his victorious teammate, Islam Makhachev.
The Dagestani fighter opened up the fight card with a one punch knockout win over the returning Gleison Tibau.

Makhachev then made his way backstage to speak to reporters his post-fight interview, but while he was making his way through the back, Nurmagomedov seemed keen to get the ball rolling again and he (likely his manger Ali Abdelaziz on his behalf) took to Instagram to call out a former lightweight title contender, Kevin Lee.
Makhachev was then asked in his interview whether he was on-board with the call out and he confirmed he most definitely was:
“Yes (it’s a fight I want), Kevin Lee say a lot of things about Russian fighters, a lot of trash talk,” Makhachev said. “Why not? I want to beat him. I deserve an opponent who is top-10 or top-15.”
Makhachev has now won 4 of his 5 UFC fights and is currently riding a winning streak of 3 with victories over Chris Wade, Nik Lentz and of course Tibau.
Lee doesn’t exactly have a lack of options, but with all of the Russian fighters seemingly wanting to fight on Nurmagomedov’s undercard on April 7 at UFC 223, a showdown with Makhachev on the undercard wouldn’t exactly be a bad choice for the “Mo Town Phenom” should he want to put himself back in the UFC lightweight title picture.
