Video: Conor McGregor DESTROYS boxing champ in sparring
There is often much talk from fighters from other disciplines regarding Mixed Martial Arts. Many athletes have respect for MMA and the UFC, others are more dismissive. While definitely being positive and getting out of his comfort zone, WBC featherweight boxing champ Patrick Hyland decided to give MMA a go. However the boxing champ learned the hard way that sparring Conor McGregor is never an easy feat.
The two met and trained together in 2013 ahead of McGregor’s bout with Max Holloway. Though the footage is old it was only released recently by The Mac Life. While Hyland is certainly well-credentialed in boxing, he didn’t accomplish much against the young and hungry McGregor. The video, which was filmed by McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh, can be seen below

McGregor completely dominated the sparring session, having his way with Hyland. The UFC star would go on to win his bout with Holloway via unanimous decision. He has since also become one of the biggest stars in the sport – If not the biggest.
In his last outing in the UFC octagon, McGregor made a triumphant return. In the main event at UFC 246 he ran through Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, winning via 40 second TKO. He was subsequently linked to a bout with Justin Gaethje, though nothing came of it. With Gaethje now facing Tony Ferguson for the interim lightweight title, there is a decent chance that McGregor skips the line and challenges arch enemy Khabib Nurmagomedov for the title. This is, however, speculation based on UFC president Dana White implying that a rematch was in the cards.
