Veronica Macedo Ready To Return And Excited To Fight Andrea Lee At UFC Chile
The UFC card in Chile continues to take shape, this time with the addition of a women’s flyweight bout between the Venezuelan Veronica Macedo who will be dropping to 125 pounds to face the well-known Andrea Lee in what will be her promotional debut.
Macedo, from Caracas, Venezuela, has more than a year of inactivity, since she suffered an injury previous to her fight against Lina Lansberg. With a new battle scheduled, Macedo say she’s now ready for her next challenge.
“Eager to fight again, I’m recovered and ready to fight,” Macedo said.
Macedo’s opponent on May 19 will be the current LFA flyweight champion, Andrea Lee. Whilst happy to be testing her skills against one of the best in the division, Macedo isn’t so pleased about having to fight at 125-pounds.
“It’s a good opportunity to fight against her because for me she is one of the best in that weightclass,” Macedo said. “I do not like to fight at 125, I do not think it benefits me.”
Macedo’s fight will be memorable as it will be held during the first UFC event in Chile, a historic milestone. The Venezuelan is happy to be part of this story in South America.
“For me it was a very pleasant surprise to know that I will fight in Chile,” Macedo confessed. “A country that opened the doors to many Venezuelans who are now emigrating and for that reason I am very grateful to Chile. Once I was in Chile and I loved its people, it is wonderful”.
UFC Fight Night 129 will be held next May 19 at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile. So far, the main event has not been announced.
