UFC Welterweight Stars Set To Descend On Brooklyn For Friday Press Conference
If the prospect of the UFC’s biggest fight of the year UFC 223 wasn’t enough for you this week, things are about to get even more tasty on Friday when a number of the biggest names from the UFC welterweight division look set to take part in a press conference.
Over the last few days, several reports have come out across the media stating that a number of the top fighters in the UFC’s 170-pounds division will be making their way to New York on Friday.
The UFC is yet to officially announce attendees, but a UFC 25th Anniversary press conference is on the current schedule and is set to place after the UFC 223 weigh-ins at 18:30 on Friday evening.
Last evening, Damon Martin confirmed that an interim UFC welterweight title fight between Colby Covington and Rafael dos Anjos is in the works and likely to be confirmed shortly. Martin also confirmed that both will be in New York this Friday.
Colby Covington vs. Rafael dos Anjos for the interim welterweight title at UFC 224 — expect it to become official very soon. Sources say both fighters will be in Brooklyn this week.
There is a presser scheduled on Friday after the #UFC223 weigh-ins so this all makes sense.

Earlier today, sources also confirmed to MMANytt.com that British welterweight Darren Till will be in Brooklyn on Friday, as will his scheduled opponent for UFC Liverpool on May 27, Stephen Thompson who told the ‘Slip n’ Dip Podcast’ earlier this week that he will be on the ground in New York for the press conference, but not for fight night.
Can confirm.
Wonderboy told us he’ll be there in Brooklyn for the presser but won’t be hanging around for the fights on Saturday night due to other engagements. https://t.co/S1Nf7YLGgF

Sources close to Santiago Ponzinibbio also confirmed his attendance in New York for the press conference on Friday. The Argentine will take on Kamaru Usman on Saturday May 19 in Santiago, Chile.
At the time of publication we have been unable to confirm any other fighters that will be in Brooklyn come Friday, but with the likes of Amanda Nunes vs Raquel Pennington also already set for UFC 224, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a whole host of other fighters embark the stage.
Exciting times ahead this week.
