UFC veteran arrested on 20 charges – including manslaughter
It may be a while before we see UFC lightweight Desmond Green in the UFC. Green was arrested and jailed earlier this week on 20 separate charges including manslaughter and cocaine possession. The charges stem from his involvement in a serious car crash that occurred in august 18th, 2018. As a result of the car pile up two women, Emelina Morfa, 67, and Emma Suarez Hernandez, 76, were killed.
The charges include: Two second-degree felony counts of DUI manslaughter; four third-degree felony counts of DUI causing serious bodily injury; third-degree felony possession of cocaine; five misdemeanour counts of DUI property damage; and third-degree felony driving with a suspended license.
Early in the morning on august 18th Green veered into a truck carrying a trailer, causing a serious car pileup where three other vehicles were involved. Aside from the injury and property damage caused by Green, he was also found with cocaine in his car and system, and was also deemed to be under the influence of alcohol and marijuana following a toxicology report.
Despite the serious nature of the fatal accident, Green was able to compete three times, first facing Mairbek Taisumov in Moscow just the following month and fighting two additional times – including a TKO victory over veteran Ross Pearson.
The UFC has yet to comment regarding the issue.
