Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone gets lengthy medical suspension after KO loss

The full medical suspensions for UFC Vancouver have meed made official, and fan favourite "Cowboy" Cerrone likely wont return until 2020

UFC Vancouver took place this weekend, and it certainly was a triumphant return to Canada for the local fans. The event saw several exciting bouts and impressive finishes. The full medical suspensions were recently obtained by mixedmartialarts.com, and several fighters are unlikely to return this year.

The main event saw fan-favourites Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Justin Gaethje face off in an exciting match up with title implications. Gaethje ended up catching “Cowboy” with a right hand, leading to a TKO finish. Now that the medical suspensions are in it’s revealed that Cerrone will be out for 90 days without competition or contact. Unless he gets booked for UFC Busan in South Korea on December 21st, “Cowboy” will not return to the UFC this year.

In other notable medical suspensions for UFC Vancouver; Todd Duffee was suspended for 90 days following the controversial end to his bout with Jeff Hughes. An inadvertent eye poke ended the bout as a No Contest.  Nikita KrylovCole Smith and Chas Skelly all received 90 day suspensions, and Ryan MacDonald 90 days.

  • Nikita Krylov: suspended 60 days with 45 days no contact.
  • Todd Duffee: suspended 90 days with 60 days no contact; also suspended indefinitely pending ophthalmologist clearance for possible conjunctival abrasion. Received sutures for lacerations.
  • Jeff Hughes: suspended 30 days with no contact and no competition.
  • Tristan Connelly: suspended 30 days with 14 days no contact.
  • Michel Pereira: suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact.
  • Uriah Hall: suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact.
  • Antonio Carlos Junior: suspended 60 days with 45 days no contact; also suspended indefinitely pending physician clearance. Needs “CT Max and a Cervical Spine” and may have fractured nose.
  • Misha Cirkunov: suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact.
  • Jim Crute: suspended 30 days with 14 days no contact.

  • Augusto Sakai: suspended 14 days with no contact and no competition for knockout.
  • Marcin Tybura: suspended 90 days with no contact and no competition.
  • Miles Johns: suspended 30 days with 14 days no contact; also suspended indefinitely pending physician clearance of left hand that needs X-ray.
  • Cole Smith: suspended 60 days with no contact and no competition for hard bout.
