UFC President Dana White Skips the Belt Ceremony and Press Conference – Francis Ngannou Reacts (VIDEO)
Traditionally after each Championship bout, the UFC president enters the Octagon to wrap the belt around the waist of the champion. Yesterday at UFC 270, that didn’t happen with Francis Ngannou as he successfully defended his belt against interim champion Gane.
Following his victory at UFC 270, Francis Ngannou isn’t sure why Dana White didn’t stay to present him with the heavyweight belt.
“I don’t know. You have to ask him,” Ngannou said when asked why White didn’t stick around to put the belt around his waist. Said Francis to MMAFighting.com. “No, I did not have anything to do about that. I think that was their decision. I’m about to ask about that, too.”
Mick Maynard, not Dana White, awarded Francis Ngannou with the UFC heavyweight belt after the fight. That action did not go unnoticed, and during the UFC 270 post-fight press conference, ‘The Predator’ was questioned for his thoughts.

Francis Ngannou seemed amazed when he learned that Dana White had also decided to boycott the UFC 270 post-fight press conference.
“Wow, OK, I didn’t know that, too.”
It will be intriguing to see what happens next, as Francis Ngannou and Dana White have some big negotiations to do behind close doors.
