UFC London: Mark Godbeer Gets Change Of Opponent
There’s been a little change to the upcoming UFC Fight Night London card with Mark Godbeer’s original opponent, Dmitry Poberezhets, withdrawing from the bout set for March 17.
Poberezhets’ reason for pulling out is currently unknown, but luckily Godbeer will still be making the walk in 7 weeks.
Godbeer (13-3) will now take on Dmitry Sosnovskiy (10-0), a man who was scheduled to make his UFC debut against Justin Ledet twice last year. Sosnovskiy is 28-year-old and has competed in multiple promotions including Oplot MMA, Octagon Fighting Sensation and ProFC. The biggest name on Sosnovskiy’s record is arguably Aleksander Emelianenko who he defeated in 2014. Since then he’s gone on to win two further fights, with his last in May 2015 when he defeated Oleg Gapchenko at ‘Octagon Fighting Sensation 4: Challenge the Best’ in Russia. Sosnovskiy was then booked to face Ledet at UFC Fight Night 104 and UFC Fight Night 116, but the fight fell through both times with both men pulling out injured once.
No doubt Godbeer and the UFC will be relieved to still have a place on the fight card. The Englishman is currently at the Fairtex Training Camp in Pattaya, Thailand where has been training for nearly 4 weeks. Godbeer is working with the likes of Nick Chapman, Bruno Carvalho Sergei Kharitonov, Marc Vlieger to help him prepare for his fight on March 17.
The Brit is currently riding a two fight win streak in the promotion with a win over Daniel Spitz at UFC 209 last March, and then a bizarre disqualification win over Walt Harris back at UFC 217 last November.
