UFC On Fox 26 In Winnipeg Gets A New Co-Main Event
The UFC Winnipeg fight card on Dec. 16 now has a new co-main event after Jose Aldo was drafted onto UFC 218 on short notice to face UFC featherweight champion, Max Holloway.
Aldo was set to face Ricardo Lamas in a rematch of their fight that took place on Feb. 2014 when the Brazilian won via unanimous decision. With Aldo now off the card, Josh Emmett has now been drafted in take on Lamas in the co-main event of the evening. Lamas is currently on a winning streak of two fights, while Emmett won on his featherweight debut in Poland last October with a win over Felipe Arantes.
Elsewhere on the card, there are also more changes. As announced this past weekend, British flyweight Pietro Menga has signed with the UFC and will step in to replace Justin Scoggins against Tim Elliott.
Another Brit, Darren Stewart, has also been added to the card and will take on Julian Marquez who was originally scheduled to meet Vitor Miranda.
In the welterweight division, Danny Roberts who was originally set to meet Sheldon Wescott, and Nordine Taleb was expected to face Sultan Aliev, will now face each other after both Wescott and Aliev pulled out due to injuries.
With those changes now made, the UFC Winnipeg fight card now looks like this:
Robbie Lawler vs. Rafael dos Anjos
Ricardo Lamas vs. Josh Emmett
Glover Teixeira vs. Misha Cirkunov
S. Ponzinibbio vs. Mike Perry
A. Di Chirico vs. Oluwale Bamgbose
