UFC Embedded Episode One Breakdown

The UFC has released the first two episodes of the popular YouTube series UFC Embedded ahead of UFC 312. As is customary in the opening episode, the featured fighters are scattered across different locations, making their final preparations before fight week.

Reigning middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis completes his last training session in South Africa before flying to Sydney, Australia, for his first title defense. His challenger, former champion Sean Strickland, is still in Las Vegas, wrapping up his camp.

Strawweight champion Zhang Weili, who is set to defend her title, has chosen Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA Gym in Phuket, Thailand, as her training base. She describes it as the best place to focus entirely on her preparation. Meanwhile, her undefeated challenger Tatiana Suarez has already arrived in Sydney, where she is finalizing her training camp.

In the second episode, both du Plessis and Strickland have landed in Australia. The South African champion takes a break from training to visit players from the Canberra Raiders rugby team and later enjoys deep-sea fishing. He also shares a humorous anecdote about how he got his fiancée to unknowingly plan her own engagement party.

Strickland, on the other hand, explores Sydney, interacting with fans and posing for photos.

Two Title Fights Headline UFC 312

UFC 312 takes place on February 9, 2025, at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia. The event will feature two high-stakes title fights. In the main event, Dricus du Plessis defends his middleweight belt against Sean Strickland, while the co-main event sees Zhang Weili making her fourth title defense against Tatiana Suarez.

Although some fans on social media have criticized the UFC 312 card compared to UFC 311, history has shown that fight cards can exceed expectations once the action unfolds in the octagon.

Aside from the championship fights, UFC 312 also features:

  • Justin Tafa vs. Tallison Teixeira (Heavyweight)
  •  Jimmy Crute vs. Marcin Prachnio (Light Heavyweight)
  •  Jake Matthews vs. Francisco Prado (Welterweight)

Another notable change for the event is that UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping will replace Joe Rogan on commentary. Rogan, who does not travel for international events, will sit this one out, with Bisping joining Jon Anik and Daniel Cormier at the broadcast desk.
