UFC 224 Weigh-In Results: Mackenzie Dern Misses Weight by 7lbs In Rio (Video)

UFC strawweight Mackenzie Dern has missed weight by seven pounds this morning at the UFC 224 early weigh-ins.

Dern is expected to fight Amanda Bobby Cooper in Rio de Janeiro tomorrow, but after just 42-minutes of the scales being open in Brazil this morning she came in at 123 pounds (Credit: MMA Fighting for the video)

15-minutes later Cooper hit the scales at 116lbs.

MMAFighting.com then confirmed that the fight will take place and that Dern will be forced to give up 10% of her fight purse to Cooper. Reporters Alexander K Lee of MMAFighting and Fernanda Prates of MMAJunkie then noted that the UFC may decide to fine Dern more should they choose to impose further sanctions.

There could be further sanctions from the UFC, probably in the 20-30 percent range that we're used to seeing

Yeah, what he meant was that the commission was entitled to 10 percent, but they're giving it to Cooper. The rest is up to the UFC – who will let us know in about half an hour.

Elsewhere on the card, the UFC women’s bantamweight title fight is official after both the champion Amanda Nunes and Raquel Pennington made weight at 135lbs.

Middleweights Lyoto Machida (186lbs), Jacare Souza (186lbs), Vitor Belfort (184lbs) and Kelvin Gastelum (186lbs) all made weight this morning.

All other fighters on the card made weight.
