UFC 216 will move ahead as scheduled following tragic mass shooting in Las Vegas
UFC 216: Ferguson vs. Lee will move forward as scheduled for Oct. 7 following the tragic mass shooting that unfolded in Las Vegas on Sunday night.
At least 58 people are dead following the largest mass shooting in United States history as the famous Las Vegas strip was shut down after a lone gunman opened fire on a crowd of 22,000 concert goers attending a show near the Mandalay Bay resort and casino.
UFC officials confirmed in a statement on Monday that plans are still in place for the events surrounding the card taking place this weekend at the T-Mobile Arena just a few blocks away from the site of the horrific shootings.
“Our focus right now is on supporting the community and those affected by Sunday evening’s events. UFC 216 on Saturday, October 7 at T-Mobile Arena will proceed as scheduled until further notice,” UFC officials said in a statement.
The UFC had previously released a message of condolences to the victims involved in the shooting from Sunday.

UFC president Dana White later revealed to the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the organization would donate $1 million in support of the victims and their families regarding this tragic incident.
