Tyson Fury Blames War for Usyk Loss: “I Won That Fight”
Tyson Fury Suffers First Career Loss
Last night, boxing champion Tyson Fury faced Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. Fury experienced his first loss in his boxing career, now holding a record of 34-1-1. Usyk remains undefeated with a perfect record of 22-0.
The 37-year-old Ukrainian has previously defeated the top-ranked heavyweight Anthony Joshua on two occasions. It remains unclear if Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury will have an immediate rematch.
Fury’s Reaction to the Defeat
Shortly after the announcer Michael Buffer read the decision, Fury was interviewed in the ring. The Englishman expressed that he believed he won the fight. Fury also suggested that the war in Usyk’s homeland influenced the judges.
“I think I won that fight. I won the majority of the rounds. These decisions happen too often in boxing. We both put on a great show and did our best. His country is at war, and I think people are biased because of the war. I won that fight.”
“I will come back; I have a rematch clause. Thanks to Jesus for all the victories He has given me. I lost via a split decision to a good little man. We’ll go home to our families, and then we’ll go again in October. Good luck, Oleksandr, well done, God bless you.”
