During a press conference ahead of the event, Ferguson made it clear that he does not plan to retire and intends to fight more after this weekend’s match.

“I feel comfortable at welterweight, and I don’t think this will be my last fight. I need to do something extraordinary, that’s what I plan to do. I feel sharp; I’ve already trained twice this morning. I love this company and I have plenty of fights left. This is not the last fight, as people seem to think. I feel so damn fresh,” said Ferguson.
