“The Korean Zombie” teases September fight with Brian Ortega
Has “The Korean Zombie” teased a planned main event with Brian Ortega?
The featherweight division is alive and well with several interesting and entertaining fighters working their way up the rankings in hopes of challenging reigning champion Max Holloway for the title. One fighter who has been in contention for the majority of his active time in the UFC is “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung (15-5), who recently took to Instagram – where he hinted at wanting to face former title challenger Brian Ortega (14-1) in September.
Judging the the emojis used, it would seem Jung is hinting at facing Ortega at UFC on ESPN+ 17 in Mexico City, Mexico, september 21st. As of now no main event is announced, though if this fight is planned it would surely be the final fight on the card.
Who can get back to the title?
Both Jung and Ortega have come up short in their respective bids to capture their first UFC title. The Korean faced former featherweight champion Jose Aldo, on short notice, at UFC 163. Despite a strong showing Jung would lose via fourth round TKO. Since then he has gone 2-1, with all fights ending via knockout. He finished Renato Moicano in under a minute in his most recent fight.
Ortega took the division by storm, winning six straight bouts – including finishes over Frankie Edgar and Cub Swanson. He faced Holloway at UFC 231, but would prove to have a clear disadvantage on the feet. Despite losing via doctor stoppage between the fourth and fifth round, Ortega put in a good and respected performance.
The UFC have not yet announced this potential match up – do you want to see it?
