Tension Rises: Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal Face Off One Last Time

“High Stakes Showdown: Last Encounter Before the Fight”

Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal have nothing left to say to each other. On Friday, both fighters successfully made weight for their 10-round light heavyweight boxing match, which will take place this Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Diaz came in at 175.6 pounds, while Masvidal weighed 175.2 pounds.

Ceremonial Weigh-In and Final Face Off

Despite making weight earlier in the morning, both fighters participated in a ceremonial weigh-in on Friday afternoon. Host Jimmy Lennon Jr. set the stage for the final face off by declaring,

“We’re going to have our fighters face off with security ready and necessary.”

However, Lennon’s caution proved unnecessary as Diaz and Masvidal kept their distance, standing several feet apart before giving their final interviews. Diaz lightened the mood by commenting,

“Yo, this whole shit’s cap. I already weighed in this morning,” before smiling, flashing a peace sign, and walking off stage.

Masvidal, in contrast, delivered a more traditional pre-fight message:

“Just one more sleep,” Masvidal said. “I get to bring all this work I’ve been doing since January to fruition. I thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ for every moment, every thing. I’m going to put on an ass-whooping tomorrow, whether you guys like that or not. I’m here to do my job, I’m going to kill somebody tomorrow. All the shit-talking is over, now we get to fight, and either my camp was the right one or his camp was the right one, but we get to find out tomorrow. See y’all there”.

The Fight and Its Significance

The match between Diaz and Masvidal, initially scheduled for June 1, was rescheduled to July 6 due to a conflict with UFC 302. Now, the bout will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Diaz and Masvidal, both seasoned MMA veterans, first faced off in 2019 where Masvidal won via technical knockout due to a doctor’s stoppage.

This match, presented by Fanmio PPV, is a 10-round boxing match in the light heavyweight division. Diaz is looking for redemption while Masvidal is confident in proving his dominance in the boxing ring.

“I’m meaner. I’m faster. I’m more explosive. And when it comes down to it, I think I’ve got the best hands in MMA,” Masvidal stated. “On July 6, I get to prove that. No questions, no nothing. We’re going to find out. There’s none of that jiu-jitsu (stuff), none of that hugging, it’s just straight hands”.
