Stipe Miocic wants Anthony Joshua next following Wladimir Klitschko’s retirement
Stipe Miocic wants a boxing title to hang alongside his UFC championship.
The Ohio native, who has won his last five fights in a row all by knockout, has been angling for a shot at Joshua, who has become one of the top heavyweight boxers over the past few years.
Most recently Joshua finished Klitschko in spectacular fashion on one of the best fights of the year in front of more than 90,000 fans in Wembley Stadium in England.
It appeared the rematch was on the horizon until Klitschko surprised the world by announcing his retirement from boxing on Thursday.
Miocic has been pushing for a fight with Joshua for several months but with the Klitschko rematch no longer a viable option, he’s once again gunning for a shot to take out the heavyweight boxing champion.
. @anthonyfjoshua looks like your schedule is wide open. No excuses, let's dance! #BaddestManOnThePlanet

Much respect @Klitschko on an incredible career. Good luck on the next chapter, champ!

Of course, UFC president Dana White has stated that he doesn’t intend on any other crossover fights between mixed marital artists and boxing outside of the one bout he allowed between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.
Still, Miocic seems anxious to book the fight considering he has competed in Golden Gloves boxing previously and feels like a showdown with Joshua would favor him.
Joshua has yet to respond to the latest call out from the UFC champion.
