Stevie Ray Calls Out Mairbek Taisumov… But He’s Already Got A Fight
Stevie Ray called out Mairbek Taisumov this morning, but unfortunately for him, the Russian apparently already has a fight booked.
Speaking out today via his Instagram account, Ray took aim at Taisumov.
“Let’s do it! No hold up on my end! I will fight any man any time @taisumov155 @seanshelby @ufceurope @danawhite #ufclondon #RayvsTasimov”
In a matter of minutes Taisumov posed his response and let Ray know that’s he’s already got himself a fight.
“Is this a joke? Go back to sleep little sheep! Now that you probably heard that I already have an opponent you’re playing tough seeking for some attention? Well good job you got some Russian followers more! I’ve been calling out people since last year and never heard your name, but I’d fight you and my opponent both on the same night!”
Ray is currently out of contract with the UFC has been waiting to hear if he will be offered a new contract by the promotion. The Scot has gone 5-2 under the UFC banner, but received some poor advice ahead of his last fight and was instructed to hold out for a new deal after his fight with Paul Felder at UFC Fight Night Glasgow last July. After losing the fight, Ray has been in contact with the UFC matchmakers, but has yet to receive a new deal.
Taisumov is currently riding a five fight win streak with five straight finishes. The Russian has had difficulty securing a visa before to fight in the US, but sources close to the Taisumov camp have indicated that he’s hoping to take a fight on US soil for the first time in the UFC in the next coming months.
Sources close to MMANytt have already ruled out the possibility of Taisumov fighting Anthony Pettis at UFC London as previously rumoured.
