Stevie Ray Calls Out Diego Sanchez For A Showdown At UFC London

UFC lightweight Stevie Ray has laid down the challenge to Diego Sanchez for UFC London.

Stevie Ray will be looking return to the UFC Octagon in 2018 and he think he’s found the perfect dance partner for a showdown at UFC London in March.

Earlier today, MMANytt.com spoke to Ray about a possible return in London and he explained that he would love to face future hall of famer, Diego Sanchez.

“I think it makes a lot of sense,” Ray said. “We’re both coming off KO losses and both of us have exciting brawling styles.

“I’m a big Diego Sanchez fan myself and I’ve a lot of respect for him. I think it would be fireworks for the fans.”

Ray (21-7) is coming off the back off a loss to Paul Felder at UFC Fight Night 113 in Glasgow, Scotland. Prior to that, the Scot had taken the scalps of Ross Pearson and Joe Lauzon and had worked his way into a position of cracking the top-15 in the division. In 2018, he’s looking to put a solid run together and he thinks the perfect way to start off would be by facing Sanchez at the O2 Arena on March 17.

Sanchez (27-11) was last in the Octagon back at UFC Fight Night 120 when he was defeated by Matt Brown via first round TKO. The TUF season 1 winner has lost four of his last six fights and is looking like he’s coming to the end of his career, but he’s given no indication that he’s ready to hang up the 4-oz. gloves and he’s expecting to return to action in 2018. Sanchez was last in England back in 2009 when he headlined UFC 95 against Joe Stevenson. That evening, he took home a unanimous decision win at the London O2 Arena.

Could a return to the UK be on the cards for Sanchez? Ray is certainly hoping so.
