Sijara Eubanks out; Roxanne Modafferi Now Fights Nicco Montano for UFC Women’s Flyweight Title
Disaster struck “The Ultimate Fighter” 26 Finale on Thursday after Sijara Eubanks failed to show up for the weigh-ins after she was hospitalized during a brutal weight cut to get down to 125 pounds.
With Eubanks out, Roxanne Modafferi has stepped up to replace her and will now take on Nicco Montano to crown the first ever UFC women’s flyweight champion.
Modafferi was already scheduled for the card in a matchup against former Invicta FC champion Barb Honchak but now she will be competing to become the inaugural women’s champion at 125 pounds.
UFC officials confirmed that Honchak would stay on the card against Lauren Murphy but then later said that fight is not official as the competitors haven’t yet agreed to the matchup. A decision on Honchak vs. Murphy will be made later in the day.
I’m excited for the opportunity. I also hope Sijara gets better quickly. A weight cut to the point of hospitalization can be serious. https://t.co/l0pjDgV4mw

As for Modafferi, the two-time “Ultimate Fighter” alum will step into the title fight following her run on the most recent season of the reality show where she finished her first two opponents by TKO before falling to Eubanks in the semifinals.
Now Modafferi will get the opportunity to redeem herself while facing off with Montano, who originally entered the tournament as the No. 14 overall seed to determine the inaugural UFC women’s flyweight champion.
“The Ultimate Fighter” 26 Finale will air live from Las Vegas on Friday night via FS1.
