See KO artist Anthony “Rumble” Johnson make his sumo debut
Feared knockout artist Anthony “Rumble” Johnson is back, but not as an MMA fighter – He saddled up for sumo wrestling.
Weather or not Anthony “Rumble” Johnson will return to MMA seems somewhat uncertain. He has teased a comeback to the sport on multiple occasions, once even implying that he would fight at UFC 248 – Though to no avail. While he seems intent on returning, there are undoubtedly circumstances that stop him from wholeheartedly focusing on a UFC comeback.
He has, however, returned to combat sports. Last month “Rumble” took part in a charity event, in which he, as well as UFC heavyweight Curtis Blaydes, competed in sumo wrestling. In an in-depth video that showcases the entire process Johnson went through, we can now take a behind the scenes look at his sumo wrestling matches.

The last time Johnson stepped into the octagon he came up short in his second bid to capture the UFC light heavyweight title. That loss snapped a three fight winning streak of KO wins, over Jimi Manuwa and Glover Teixeira amongst others. “Rumble” decided to retire in the cage following that title loss, but it seems that decision may have been premature. He seemed to thoroughly enjoy sumo wrestling, but his many allusions to MMA tell a story in themselves.
