Sean O’Malley ROASTED by other fighters after suffering first loss
UFC 252 took place this weekend, with Stipe Miocic defeating Daniel Cormier in the main event, winning the heavyweight trilogy. The co-main event would see two promising bantamweights duke it out for contender status. Red hot prospect Sean O’Malley would, however, suffer his first defeat, and proceeded to get roasted by several fighters afterwards. O’Malley faced Ecuador’s Marlon Vera, who finished the former in the first round via ground strikes following an apparent leg injury. During the middle part of the opening round O’Malley seemingly injured his leg, and never managed to recover from it, later being carried out on a stretcher.
O’Malley is hardly short on confidence, and his cocky style can rub certain fighters the wrong way. Some felt he was looking past Vera, and he was dismissive of returning former champion Cody Garbrandt, who knocked out Raphael Assuncao in his comeback.

Following O’Malley’s first professional loss, there were several detractors willing to rub salt in the wound. Former bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo was quick to take jabs at the prospect.

This loss snapped O’Malley’s impressive twelve fight winning streak, four of which took place in the UFC. Inside the octagon he has defeated the likes of Jose Quiñonez and Eddie Wineland. It remains to be seen how long O’Malley is out due to injury, and who he returns against.
