Scott Askham Signs For KSW And Will Debut In 2018
Scott Askham is coming off the back of one the best wins of his career against Luke Barnatt and there’s more big news on the way.
Petesy Carroll of MMAFighting reported this morning that Askham has signed a multi-fight contract with one of Europe’s leading MMA promotions, KSW, and is expected to debut in March next year.
Askham will enter a 185-pounds division that features several big-name Polish stars Michal Materla, and the champion, Mamed Khalidov.
Askham (15-4) last fought under the ACB banner in September when he defeated Barnatt via split decisions= at ACB 70 in Sheffield, England. Prior to that, the Yorkshireman enjoyed a near three year stint in the UFC where he went 2-4. During that run, Askham beat Antônio dos Santos Jr. and Clint Dempsey at UFC Fight Night London in 2016, but suffered back-to-back losses to Jack Hermansson and Bradley Scott which saw him released.
The former BAMMA middleweight champion was said to be looking over multiple offers following his win at ACB, but Askham decided KSW was the right place for him and he put pen to paper earlier this week. With KSW promising to expand further across Europe in the coming years, Askham joins the promotion at a very exciting time.
KSW’s next show will take place on Dec. 23 in Katowice. The main event will see Borys Mankowski defend his KSW welterweight title against the two-weight EFC champion, Dricus Du Plesis. The KSW featherweight title will also be on the line when champion Kleber Koike Erbst faces former champion, Artur Sowinski.
