Scott Askham Reveals Why He Can Fight For ACB While Under Contract With KSW
Scott Askham will return to the ACB cage on May 19 when he takes on Ibragim Chuzhigaev at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham at ACB 87.
Earlier this month, the Yorkshireman defeated Michal Materla in what was his debut fight in KSW having signed a multi fight deal with the organization.
Speaking via Facebook live stream today, Askham revealed why he cane fight in ACB despite being under contract with KSW.
“I’m returning to ACB, my first since leaving UFC was with ACB in the main event in Sheffield,” Askham said.
“It’s a great organization and everything went well and I love fighting for them [and] I’m happy to return.”
“KSW, I signed a multi fight deal with them, a three fight deal and it’s non-exclusive so it allows me to fight outside the organization.
“In 2018 I want to stay busy so it’s a great opportunity to fight on ACB and then at the end of the year I’ll be fighting on KSW, hopefully for the title.”
Askham isn’t shy about letting everyone know that he wants the KSW middleweight title which is currently being held by Mamed Khalidov.
The American Top Team fighter feels like he’s well placed for a shot at the gold and he’s hoping it could happen later this year.
“I feel like I’ve earned that shot,” Askham said.
“Materla is a big name, been on a three fight win streak, former champion and he’s beaten big names.
“That’s the plan. I want that title shot and hopefully that title shot is in England as well.
“There’s rumours that KSW are coming back to England so hopefully I get that title shot in England. That would be amazing.”
“That would be a great year. KSW twice and ACB in the middle. That would be great.”
