Sage Northcutt Heaps Praise On Team Alpha Male Following His Win At UFC Norfolk
After a year away from the UFC Octagon, Sage Northcutt is back to winning ways.
Last evening, Northcutt defeated Michel Quinones via a unanimous decision after dominating all three rounds. Northcutt returned to lightweight for the first time since December 2015 and he looked better than ever as he took the scorecards 30-27 across the board.
Speaking backstage after the bout to UFC.com, Northcutt heaped praise on Team Alpha Male who he recently joined.
“Oh man I’m feeling great and I was so pumped up with the audience out here at UFC Norfolk,” Northcutt said. “Man that was blast. I’m 4-0 at lightweight and I’m pumped up now I’m training with Team Alpha Male.
“Team Alpha Male has been awesome. I’ve been there three months straight. I have my coach Alex Munoz here working with me pretty much every single day. I have coach Urijah Faber working with me all the time and of course, my Dad who has been working with me every day since I was a kid.”
Northcutt, being the nice man that he is, didn’t call out any fighter, but did say he was excited for the future and that was looking forward to progressing through the rankings at 155-pounds.
“I feel like I could’ve wrestled a lot more,” Northcutt said. “But I was kinda fun for me, it’s been almost a year since I’ve been in the Octagon and my opponent was supposed to be a great striker. He threw a lot of kicks himself and he was good at striking, so I figured I would stand and strike with him and it reminded me of my karate days.
“You know, [I’ve got] no names in mind, but I’m just so excited to be back here in the Octagon and fighting again, it’s been almost a year. I was sick for so many fights. I had my tonsils taken out and then my wisdom teeth taken out. I’m just excited to be training at Team Alpha Male and for my next fight.”
