Ryan Garcia Charged with Vandalism – Faces Jail Time

Boxer Ryan Garcia faces serious legal trouble after vandalism charges.

On June 8th, boxer Ryan Garcia was arrested in Beverly Hills and is now facing charges for vandalism. The Los Angeles District Attorney, George Gascón, announced the charges on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of holding individuals accountable for such reckless behavior.

“Even though we are grateful that no injuries were reported in this incident, reckless behavior that damages property shows a flagrant and unacceptable disregard for the safety and peace of our community. Our office will work to ensure that the responsible individual is held accountable,” stated Gascón.

Incident Details

The charges stem from an incident where Garcia allegedly caused over $400 in damages, making it a misdemeanor offense. If convicted, he could face up to one year in jail. According to the Beverly Hills Police Department, they responded to a call at the Waldorf Astoria for a “drunk person” causing disturbances. Upon arrival, they identified the individual as Ryan Garcia, who had reportedly damaged a hotel room and corridor. The hotel management requested Garcia’s arrest for property damage.

“On June 8, 2024, at approximately 5:15 PM, Beverly Hills Police responded to 9850 Wilshire Blvd. (Waldorf Astoria) for a ‘drunk person’ call. During the investigation, the intoxicated individual was identified as Ryan Garcia. Statements from hotel management confirmed that Garcia, a registered guest, caused damage to a guest room and the hotel corridor. Hotel management requested Mr. Garcia’s arrest for property damage,” said the police.

Following his arrest, Garcia was transported to a local hospital by the Beverly Hills Fire Department for medical care.

Legal and Professional Repercussions

Despite the substantial damage reported at $15,000, Garcia is charged with a misdemeanor rather than a felony. This incident is the latest in a series of controversies surrounding the boxer. On April 20th, Garcia achieved a significant victory over Devin Haney, only to have the win nullified after testing positive for the performance-enhancing drug ostarine. Consequently, he was suspended for a year by the New York Athletic Commission.

Furthermore, Garcia has been expelled from the World Boxing Council (WBC) following racist remarks.
