Report: UFC targeting Junior dos Santos vs Alexander Volkov for Moscow
The UFC’s return to Moscow seems to be underway with a huge main event. According to Russian news outlet Tass the UFC are working on putting together a heavyweight match up between former UFC champ Junior dos Santos and former Bellator champ Alexander Volkov. The fight is expected to take place at UFC on ESPN+ 21 in Moscow on November 9th. As of now the UFC have not confirmed the report.

Dos Santos returned to the UFC in 2018 following a suspension for a tainted supplement. When he entered the octagon once more he did so by earning a unanimous decision victory over Blagoy Ivanov. He followed up with back-to-back TKO wins over Tai Tuivasa and Derrick Lewis, earning a big fight with former title challenger Francis Ngannou. The heavyweight showdown wold end swiftly though, as dos Santos was defeated by TKO early in the first round.
Russian standout Volkov made his UFC debut in 2016, defeating Timothy Johnson via split decision. After that debut, however, his wins only became more and more convincing. He followed up with a unanimous decision win over Roy Nelson, then a TKO victory over Stefan Struve. After that he scored his biggest achievement in his UFC career: a knockout win over former UFC champ Fabricio Werdum. In his latest outing, he was en route to defeating above mentioned Lewis via decision until the American landed a hard flurry att he end of the third round, finishing Volkov off with eleven seconds left of the fight.
The fight is not yet officially confirmed by the UFC, UFC Moscow takes place November 9th.
