Bobby Green: Paddy Pimblett Can’t Keep Quiet

“He won’t shut up,” says Green.

Bobby Green has closely watched his UFC 304 opponent Paddy Pimblett and seen many positive aspects in his performances. But there’s one thing that bothers him.

“This is my next lesson for him: He’s solid, he’s not bad,” Green said on The MMA Hour ahead of UFC 304. “He’s not a bad fighter at all. The problem is, he won’t shut the fck up. Shut the fck up, smile, be that stupid kid with that stupid haircut, being happy and dancing, whatever he does. He does that little stupid dance, you know? Let him do his dance and be happy” (The MMA Hour: MMA Fighting).

Green and Pimblett are set to meet on July 27 at UFC’s pay-per-view event in Manchester in a crucial lightweight bout. Pimblett remains undefeated in the octagon, while Green steps in for his 26th walk to the cage, coming off a dominant decision win over Jim Miller at UFC 300 (UFC.com: UFC).

Issues with Pimblett’s Conduct

According to Green, Pimblett started to go astray after his controversial decision win over Jared Gordon at UFC 282 in December 2022.

“It was when he started talking, that’s when all this bullsht began,” Green said. “Shut the fck up, Paddy. Why? Because he started talking about the Jared [Gordon] fight. And not only that, he doubled down on that sh*t, like, ‘No, I whooped his ass.’

“Like, bro, everybody can see you lost that fight. So just be humble. He’s not humble. This sh*t’s going to humble him up.”

Local Backlash and Timing Issues

Since UFC 304’s announcement, the organization has faced significant local backlash due to the event’s start time, which caters more to the U.S. audience than the Manchester crowd. At UFC 286 in London in March 2023, the card took place on London time and streamed in the afternoon in the U.S. This time, the main card fighters are set to compete in the early morning hours, with the main event possibly starting around 5 a.m.

Green admits it’s not ideal but says he will be ready for Pimblett no matter when the fight happens.

“We attack at dawn,” Green said. “I’ve been on my little Game of Thrones sh*t right now, and that’s where I’m at — like, we get the soldiers ready to wake up and go play and kill at dawn. In the middle of the dawn, 4 a.m., I’m getting up, and I’m going to have to kill him. That’s what we’re going to do.”
