OFFICIAL: Swedish Prospect Gustaf Cedermalm Fights For The BKFC World Title!
It is official; Swedish prospect Gustaf “Forehead Forward” Cedermalm will fight for the BKFC bantamweight title in his upcoming bout!
The 36-year-old made a star-studded BKFC debut in December when he defeated Alex Castro in a brutal lightweight bout. Cedermalm was highly praised by BKFC Thailand President Nick Chapman who called the fight “the best in BKFC Thailand’s history” and was already talking about a title fight for the Swedish native who now resides in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
– Gustaf fought on BKFC Thailand 4 and gave us the best fight we’ve had on our Asian cards yet, BKFC Thailand President Nick Chapman told MMAnytt. They call him “Forehead Forward” and he certainly lived up to his name! He is one hell of a fighter and more than ready for this test. I cannot wait to see how this one goes down!
MMAnytt can now confirm that Cedermalm will face interim champion Reggie Barnett Jr. in a fight for the vacant bantamweight title (135 lbs). The bout will take place at BKFC Fight Night: Norfolk on March 24th and will mark the first time a Swede fights for a world title in BKFC.
– It is a great honor to have the opportunity to fight for the title in BFKC and it is truly a dream come true, Gustaf Cedermalm tells MMAnytt. I have worked extremely hard to get where I am right now and even though Barnett Jr. is a tough opponent, I feel confident that I will take home the title and make both Sweden and Cambodia proud!
Cedermalm is represented by Miguel Acosta Meyer of The Riel Team who says this is the start of something big for both Swedish and Cambodian bare knuckle.
– That Gustaf is already fighting for the title in an world-class organisation like BKFC just shows what a raw talent he is, said Acosta Meyer. This is just the beginning and Gustaf will be the first athlete in a wave of fighters who will climb up the rankings and put both Sweden and Cambodia on the bare knuckle map! We are extremely proud of Gustaf and grateful that BKFC is giving us this opportunity!
