Woodley is in dire need of a win, as his last victory was in 2018. Last year he lost his title in a one-sided fight with Kamaru Usman, in which Woodley was dominated. He was then scheduled to rematch former UFC champ Robbie Lawler at UFC on ESPN 3, but withdrew due to injury.
Edwards has been clamouring for a UFC title shot. He has one of the longest active win streaks in the welterweight division. He has eight straight wins in the UFC and most recently outpointed former champ Rafael dos Anjos via unanimous decision.
