Nicolas Dalby Says Darren Till Taking All The Hype Was For The Best Given His Recent Troubles
Darren Till and Nicolas Dalby have certainly got their separate ways since their infamous draw at UFC Dublin back in 2015, but the Dane has spoken out today and said he’s glad things have turned out the way they have.
Dalby returns to action this weekend at Cage Warriors 93 in Gothenburg, Sweden where he will looked to put an end to a two fight losing streak that saw him get cut from the UFC.
With Till having only gone on to bigger and better things since their meeting in 2015, Dalby reflected on the fight speaking to MMANytt.se earlier today and said that he’s now in the right place himself for a meteoric rise in profile.
“Yeah I actually think so because the only reason I think I lost that fight, drew, I mean, I could’ve won it, the reason I didn’t win it was because I wasn’t mentally in there for the first two rounds and that’s what you saw in the third,” Dalby said.
“Darren says that his shoulder went out and stuff like that, but no matter what, I was a different fighter in the third round than I was in the first two rounds and that’s probably why it got fight of the night as well because it was such a turn around.”
“So yeah, I do feel like it was just margins, but in a way, with already how my mental state was leading up to that fight, maybe it was better for me to have him take all the hype and now I’ve had a chance to get healthy again physically and mentally, and now I’m ready to take on that task.”
Dalby went on to explain that he may have struggled if he’d been the man in Till’s shoes. Earlier this year, Dalby admitted that he’d been battling demons outside the cage in an interview with Chuck Mindenhall (see HERE), but he says that is all now behind him.
“I think if I’d ended up in his position and won the fight and got to where he is, maybe I would’ve struggled more with it because of how I’ve been the last year and a half.
“I feel like in a good way, it is what it is and I’m just trying to look at it the best way.
“I feel happy with where I’m at right now and every time Darren Till makes headlines, my stock goes up, so all in all, I think it’s a god thing.”
