Nate Diaz vs Jorge Masvidal to headline UFC 244 in NYC
It’s now official: Fan favourites Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz will meet. Not only that, but they will collide in the five round main event for UFC 244, taking place at Madison Square Garden in New York City on November second. The fight has been speculated ever since Diaz called Masvidal out at UFC 241, and while MMA fans were overwhelmingly positive towards the fight, nothing official happened. Now ESPN have reported the the fight will headline UFC 244, despite a welterweight title bout first being targeted for the event.

The newly released odds predict a close fight, with Diaz coming out as a slight underdog at 2.12, and Masvidal as a small favourite at 1.70. Diaz returned after a three year hiatus at UFC 241, taking on former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis. Diaz showed a fantastic return to form, winning a clear-cut unanimous decision over the former title holder. That was Diaz first fight since a close decision loss to rival Conor McGregor.
Masvidal ´is hotter than ever, with back-to-back knockouts over highly respected competition. He first knocked out English striker Darren Till in London, and followed up with a record-setting, five second knockout of Ben Askren.
