Nate Diaz throws shade at bitter rival Conor McGregor
After claims that Conor McGregor will be out until 2021, Nate Diaz took the opportunity to fire shots at his rival.
The ordeal began when UFC president Dana White in a recent interview claimed that McGregor wont fight until 2021 at the earliest, and that the promotion didn’t have a fight booked for him. McGregor announced his third retirement from MMA just a few months ago.
“He is retired. Conor McGregor is not fighting. He is retired. I have no plans. I’m in the war room right now and this thing (the UFC fight calendar) is laid out to November. We have fights laid out until November 7 and Conor McGregor is not on any of them,” White told barstool sports.
“This year he’s retired. He doesn’t have a fight this year and he won’t have a fight this year. Conor McGregor will not fight in 2020. I’m not saying he won’t fight in 2021 but I’m telling you, we don’t have a fight planned for him in 2021. I guarantee you he won’t fight again in 2020. Conor McGregor is retired.”
It seems that Diaz caught wind of this, as he wasted no time getting back at his former opponent.
“Sit your ass down till 2021,” Nate Diaz wrote in a now deleted post directed at Conor McGregor on his Twitter account.

So far Diaz and McGregor have fought twice, with each fighter winning once. They first met at UFC 196, with Diaz stepping in on short notice to take the fight. Though McGregor started off strong, Diaz would take over in the second round, rocking and then submitting his opponent in an enormous upset. McGregor would get his revenge, though, at UFC 202, as he managed to defeat his foe via majority decision following five tough rounds.
