Nate Diaz In Talks for Return to the UFC in August

UFC bad boy Nate Diaz is eyeing his first fight in nearly two years with talks ongoing about a potential return in August

Nate Diaz might finally be ready to return to the Octagon.

Talks have started between Diaz and the UFC on a potential fight for the former lightweight title contender in August with UFC 227 in Los Angeles as the most likely landing post.

While negotiations are a long way from any kind of an agreement, the two sides are talking currently with hopes of getting Diaz back into the cage for the first time since losing a razor close majority decision to Conor McGregor at UFC 202 in August 2016.

Sources close to Diaz confirmed that talks are currently ongoing with the UFC following an initial report on the negotiations from ESPN.

Diaz hinted at returning to the UFC earlier this year with a targeted date in May or June but nothing ever came together that interested him enough to book a fight.

As of now, Diaz definitely seems interest in fighting in August but it ultimately comes down to the right offer with the best possible opponent that will draw him back into the Octagon.

Diaz has gone 2-1 in his past three fights including a submission victory over McGregor that eventually led to their rematch later that same year.

While Diaz competed at welterweight for both fights against McGregor it’s believed that his return is being discussed at lightweight, which is where he’s spent the majority of his career.

Of course a number of lightweight contender have already expressed interest in the fight including Kevin Lee, who is fresh off a TKO win over Edson Barboza in his last bout at UFC Fight Night in Atlantic City.
