Nate Diaz roasted by other fighters – After title fight rant

"Gotta say thanks to Conor McGregor"

After lashing out at other fighters for the welterweight title fight booking, fan favourite Nate Diaz was roasted in return by those he laid into.

It certainly is a precarious time for the UFC and its fighters. With the Covid-19 pandemic the UFC is on a somewhat rockier schedule than it has been before. On top of that, the current tension between the UFC and some of the promotions biggest stars, due to payment disputes, has also cast a shadow of unease over many divisions.

Recently the UFC announced a welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns. Previously Jorge Masvidal was expected to challenge for the title, but negotiations did not go as planned and  the bout fell through. This prompted UFC veteran and fan favourite Nate Diaz to lash out, taking aim at Usman, and questioning the legitimacy of the fight.

“This is what’s wrong with people claiming they’re fighters settling for less cause they know they’re not worth shit you should’ve fought the next guy in line not the guy who would take less cause he’s told too that’s why no one will remember you guys This isn’t a title fight,” Diaz wrote.

However it didn’t take long for Usman and Burns to fire back, as Nate Diaz was roasted by their responses.

“Let’s state some facts here:

“Your Bum Ass”
•L’s in last (5 of 9) in 8year span
•12 L’s Total
•1-1 in last 4 years
•Refused to fight Woodley when offered title shot.

“Said Guy”
•13 L’s Total
•L to Damian Maia Who was KO’d by Burns In rd 1.
•embarrassed ur Bum Ass”

Burns then chimed in as well, pointing out the historically low compensation that Diaz has received over the years, and how much his bout with Conor McGregor changed that.

“Another thing! U gotta say thanks to (Conor McGregor), his is the only reason u make money in your life Natan,” Burns wrote.

Perhaps Diaz should have thought things through before taking to social media, now the posts are forever immortalised.
