Mike Perry vs. Max Griffin, Renan Barao vs. Brian Kelleher Join UFC on FOX 28
The upcoming UFC on FOX 28 card from Orlando has added several new high profile bouts including a welterweight showdown between Mike Perry and Max Griffin as well as former champion Renan Barao getting back in action against Brian Kelleher.
A third fight will see Sam Alvey venture up to light heavyweight where he will take on Marcin Prachnio on the card.
UFC officials confirmed the bouts via the Orlando Sentinel on Tuesday.
Perry pushed to get on the card in Orlando after suffering a unanimous decision loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio in his last fight this past Dec. and now he’ll get the chance on Feb. 24.
Griffin will step in to face Perry after going 1-2 in his three fights thus far in the UFC with his lone win coming against Erick Montano in 2016.
Meanwhile, Barao will attempt to correct course on his career after falling to Aljamain Sterling in his last fight, which was supposed to serve as his return to the bantamweight division. The California State Athletic Commission actually intervened in the fight because Barao had suffered through several brutal weight cuts to get down to 135 pounds so his matchup with Sterling was actually a catch weight affair instead.
As for Kelleher, he’ll look for his third win in the UFC after defeating Damian Stasiak in his most recent fight, which moved his record to 2-1 inside the Octagon.
The UFC on FOX 28 card is still waiting on a main event but these additions continue to build an impressive undercard for the upcoming show in Orlando.
