Middleweight madness! Darren Till vs Jack Hermansson in the works!

The UFC middleweight division is stronger than ever, a notion strengthened by a recent matchup that is now being targeted by the promotion. Per ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, the UFC are working on a bout between Liverpool’s Darren Till and Norway-based Swede Jack Hermansson. So far the bout is not official, but if all plans are finalised the fight is expected to headline the UFC’s planned event on December fifth.

OTHER MMA NEWS:

Till became one of the welterweight division’s biggest stars, winning five straight bouts before earning a title shot against then champion Tyron Woodley. However the Englishman would lose via submission, and was subsequently knocked out by Jorge Masvial in his following bout. He then debuted in the UFC’s middleweight division, defeating Kelvin Gastelum via decision at UFC 244. In his last outing he faced former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, losing a close but competitive decision.

Born in Sweden but based in Norway, Hermansson has risen as a force to be reckoned with at middleweight. While initially having mixed results in the UFC, however in 2018 his career really took off, as the Swede finished former title contender Thales Leites via strikes. Hermansson then lined up three additional wins, including victories over David Branch and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. The momentum was halted when Hermansson was finished via TKO by Jared Cannonier, however he quickly returned to the win column with a first round submission over Gastelum in his last bout.
