New belt at stake in McGregor vs. Chandler? “Wouldn’t be surprised”
Michael Chandler believes the UFC is planning to introduce a new belt for his fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 303. “The Notorious’ comeback has finally been booked. On 30 June, McGregor will make his much-anticipated comeback after a two-year hiatus.
The last time McGregor fought, he broke his leg at the end of the first round of a gruelling trilogy against Dustin Poirier. Despite the brutal defeat and the fact that he is now 35 years old, the superstar has no plans to hang up his gloves. McGregor himself says he wants to fight more this year and stay as active as possible in the future.
We can only wait and see whether McGregor will be able to fight as often as he wants, but either way, he’s still got plenty of fight left in him! However, with UFC gold on the line, the former two-time champion might just be motivated! There are rumours that the UFC is set to introduce a new super-lightweight division with a weight limit of 165lbs. If true, it would be the perfect opportunity for the UFC to give McGregor the chance to win a third belt!
