Max Holloway on Khalil Rountree: “HE IS PURE VIOLENCE”

“Max Holloway shares his thoughts on the explosive Pereira vs. Rountree title fight at UFC 307.”

Holloway Predicts a Brutal Fight

In just 48 hours, Alex Pereira will defend his light heavyweight belt against challenger Khalil Rountree at UFC 307. Expectations are high, as always when Pereira steps into the octagon. Among those eager to witness the main event is former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway. On his YouTube channel, Holloway shared his thoughts on the highly anticipated title fight.

“Hear me out. This fight is super interesting. Some of you might think I’m crazy because we’ve seen Khalil Rountree have both highs and lows. We’ve seen him lose to guys he shouldn’t have lost to. BUT this dude is an animal. He is pure violence. It’s going to be a violent fight between these guys,” Holloway said.

The Dangers for Rountree

Holloway believes that a key element of Rountree’s game plan could play a crucial role in the fight. Pereira is infamous for his brutal leg kicks. He can deliver them at high speed, from unexpected angles, and without telegraphing the strike. This ability has caught many of his opponents off guard, leaving their calves and shins battered early in the fight. Holloway, however, thinks Rountree has a significant tool in his arsenal to counter Pereira’s leg kicks.

“I know what Khalil is going to do. Khalil Rountree will try to stop Alex Pereira’s leg kicks with his oblique kick, his front kick. I’m telling you, the same kick he used to destroy that other guy’s knee. The only question is whether he can pull it off,” Holloway remarked.

Holloway thinks Rountree can find ways to disrupt Pereira’s rhythm. He believes that many people are already underestimating Rountree, which he sees as a mistake. However, he is also fully aware of the power Pereira possesses and the various weapons the champion can utilize.

“His damn Thanos (Marvel character) hands. Pereira’s power is absurd. It’s crazy how he touches his opponents and they just collapse. He’s got power not just in his hands and legs, but in his knees as well. I think Alex has scored knockouts in every possible way,” Holloway added.

Holloway Refuses to Count Out Rountree

Even though Holloway sees Pereira as the favorite, he doesn’t want to completely count Rountree out. He predicts a Pereira victory but admits he has immense respect for Rountree and the violence he brings to the octagon.

“It’s crazy that people are writing him (Rountree) off. He’s so violent. He’s in this fight. As long as he’s breathing, he’s got a chance to catch Alex with something that drops him,” Holloway expressed.
