Max Holloway Keeps it Simple – “This is MMA”

“Holloway gears up for a new challenge as he faces the unbeaten Topuria at UFC 308.”

With One Month to Go Until UFC 308

Exactly one month from today, Max Holloway will step into the octagon once again, aiming to reclaim the featherweight title from the undefeated and reigning champion, Ilia Topuria, at UFC 308. Holloway’s last appearance in the cage was against Justin Gaethje for the BMF (Baddest Motherf***er) belt, a match no UFC fan will soon forget. Holloway delivered what many consider one of the most spectacular knockouts in UFC history. With just ten seconds left in the fight and four rounds already in his favor, Holloway pointed to the UFC logo at the center of the octagon, signaling Gaethje to meet him there. The two exchanged blows, and with everything to lose, Holloway managed to land a clean right hand with just one second left on the clock, knocking Gaethje out cold and claiming the BMF title.

No Problems with Facing Different Styles

Nearly six months have passed since that victory, and Holloway is now deep into his training camp to prepare for his bout against Topuria. On his YouTube channel, Holloway shared his thoughts about the upcoming fight, acknowledging that while Topuria presents a very different style compared to Gaethje, he doesn’t foresee any major issues.

“All opponents are different. I fight a certain way, and the opponents change, but I try to stay the same as always. This is what we do. It’s MMA,” Holloway explained.

Holloway is unfazed by the stylistic differences between his opponents and continues to focus on refining his approach rather than making drastic changes.

Max Holloway Wants to Prove Himself

Holloway admits that there are always small adjustments based on who he’s fighting, but a complete overhaul of his fight plan is out of the question. One key difference between Gaethje and Topuria is their age. Gaethje is nearing the end of his career, while Topuria, still undefeated, is at the peak of his. In Topuria’s last fight, he defeated Alexander Volkanovski, a fighter Holloway has faced three times but never beaten. This presents an intriguing challenge for Holloway, who believes he’s gained valuable insights from watching Topuria’s performance against Volkanovski.

“Topuria is sharp. He went out there and did his thing.”

While Holloway wouldn’t reveal exactly what he learned from that fight, he confirmed that he has studied a lot of footage of Topuria’s matches.

“It was a quick fight, hard to learn much from that. But I’ve watched a lot of other footage of him, so I’ll show you what I’ve learned. I don’t like to talk, I like to show. Wait and see on October 26.”

UFC 308 is shaping up to be a must-watch event, with Holloway ready to prove his skills against one of the top contenders in the division. Fans around the world eagerly anticipate what promises to be a thrilling showdown between the former champion and the undefeated Topuria.
