By Jim Edwards and Damon Martin
A new women’s bantamweight fight is in the works for UFC 233 as Marion Reneau is expected to face former Invicta FC champion Yana Kunitskaya on Jan. 26 in Anaheim.
Sources close to the contest confirmed the news on Thursday. The UFC has made no official announcement regarding the fight and nothing is set in stone until after bout agreements are signed and returned by both athletes.
Reneau had just recently teased upcoming fight news on her Twitter account as she looks to bounce back from a loss to former title contender Cat Zingano in her most recent performance. Prior to that setback, Reneau had picked up back-to-back wins including a submission victory over Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann.

As for Kunitskaya, her UFC debut came on extremely short notice when she faced Cris Cyborg in a featherweight fight back in March.
Returning to a more natural 135 pounds, Kunitskaya picked up her first UFC win in July when she defeated Lina Lansberg at UFC 229.
Now Reneau and Kunitskaya are expected to clash in a battle of top 10 women’s bantamweights on the first UFC pay-per-view card of 2019.
