Marcin Held Calls Out Beneil Dariush For UFC 222
We’re less that 13 days away from UFC 222, but still Marcin Held is hoping the UFC give him the call to fight Beneil Dariush on March 3.
Last night, Held competed at Polaris 6 in London where he submitted Cage Warriors lightweight champion Chris Fishgold. The Pole got the win with an armbar and left the mats having barely broken a sweat. With the win in the bag, Held spoke to MMANytt.com and stated that he was still hoping for the UFC to pick up the phone and ask him to fight Dariush at UFC 222, but that he was yet to hear back from them after making the offer.
“No, I don’t have any answer from the UFC about this,” Held said. “I’m ready and I’m doing MMA all the time. I’m in good shape so if the UFC want me to do this fight or any other fight I’m ready.”
Despite not having the offer yet, Held was adamant that if he got presented with the contract that he would sign it.
“Of course, I would be really glad to have the opportunity to fight on this show,” Held said. “It’s going to be big, UFC 222 in Las Vegas, it would be a pleasure to fight over there.”
Held competed on the same card as Benson Henderson and AJ Agazarm who competed in the co-main event bout. Held wasn’t aware at the time that Henderson would end up the winner via unanimous decision, but he was open to facing either man at the next Polaris card.
“I don’t know, maybe someone from todays fight?’ Held said when asked who he wants to face next on Polaris. “We will see. Maybe Benson Henderson or the other guy [Agazarm]. There are a lot of options, but like I said, I would like to fight here again so I will wait [for an offer].”
